Course overview
In this learning management system you will find learning activities from K-12 that meet the NLESD curriculum objectives using caribou, polar bear, snow crab, salmon, and char as case studies due to their cultural significance in Nunatsiavut and the need to take care of these co-managed animals.

About Paigitsiaguk

The Paigitsiaguk Project, also known as "Take Care of It," is an initiative focused on environmental stewardship and education within Nunatsiavut, Canada. Recognizing the interconnectedness of the well-being of Inuit communities and the health of the environment, the project aims to promote sustainable practices rooted in Inuit knowledge and cultural values. This initiative is particularly crucial given the status of caribou herds in the region and the climate crisis.

By engaging with youth through various educational approaches, including classroom learning, on-the-land experiences, and youth-led programming, the project seeks to foster a deep understanding of customary rules, ethical resource utilization, and the importance of conservation. The ultimate goal is to empower future generations to become stewards of their environment, ensuring the long-term sustainability and well-being of both wildlife populations and Inuit communities.

You as an educator can play a critical role in building this future.
